According to the local portal bilgorajska.pl, the victim turned out to be Grzegorz Berdzik, a well-known local government official. The 48-year-old was a councilor in the town of Józefów for many years.
Tragic accident in the Lublin region
Police in Janów Lubelski reported an accident in Kocudza Pierwszy between Dzwola and Frampol, which occurred on October 29th of this year. According to Police Officer Faustyna Łazur, the accident involved a motorcycle and two passenger cars.
The 71-year-old driver of a Honda passenger car tried to avoid rear-ending the car in front of him. He veered into the opposite lane and collided head-on with an oncoming motorcyclist. He also hit the side of a vehicle he was avoiding, a policewoman reported.
A prominent local politician has died.
The motorcyclist sustained the most serious injuries and was taken unconscious to the hospital by the Air Ambulance crew. Doctors fought for the 48-year-old’s life for a long time, but their efforts proved futile. The man died. The victim turned out to be Grzegorz Berdzik, a councilor on the Józefów City Council.

The local government official’s funeral took place on Thursday, November 9th, in his hometown. The funeral service was led by Father Paweł Dynak, who spoke movingly about the deceased.
Your passion was motorcycles. On one of your trips, you didn’t reach your destination. I personally remember several of our meetings together. Whenever we talked, you asked me with a smile on your face, “When will we go on a motorcycle ride together?” Today, unfortunately, I know that won’t be possible, he recalled.
Colleagues bid farewell to Grzegorz Berdzik
The politician’s long-time colleagues also bid farewell, unanimously noting that his work was a true passion for Grzegorz Berdzik. They added that he was also “a role model for local government officials.”
